The Andhra Pradesh government has issued an order allowing Andhra Pradesh Power Generation Company Limited (APGENCO) to execute the 960 MW Polavaram HEP, subject to certain conditions. The conditions state that APGENCO will have to appoint a project management agency (PMA) along with an internal management team to ensure that the project is reviewed regularly. Moreover, the PMA and the internal management team would be responsible for the timely completion of the project and would bear the additional cost, if any, due to delay in completion of the project. In addition, APGENCO will have to reduce its operations and maintenance cost norm from 2 per cent to 1.5 per cent.
