The Uttar Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (UPERC) has announced a hike in power tariffs for consumers for 2017-18. The average hike is 12 per cent for domestic consumers. For urban domestic consumers, the tariffs have been raised by 9 per cent and for metered rural domestic consumers, the tariffs have been hiked to Rs 3 per unit for the first 100 units and Rs 4.50 per unit for consumption thereafter. Further, small and medium industrial units running in one shift have been provided an exemption of 15 per cent.
