Saudi Arabia-based ACWA Power has awarded a contract to China’s Chint Group for the construction of 165.5 MWp of solar parks in Egypt. The deal was signed during the World Future Energy Summit held in January 2018 in Abu Dhabi and entails the delivery of EPC services for three photovoltaic projects in Benban. The three plants have a capacity of 67.5 MWp, 70 MWp and 28 MWp respectively and are estimated to cost around $190 million. The construction work is slated to begin in the first quarter of this year and the plants are expected to be commissioned by end-2018. On completion, the plants will be able to mitigate 156,000 tonnes of carbon dioxide emissions annually.
