APERC issues ruling on revision of PPAs

The Andhra Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission (APERC) has ruled that the PPAs signed between distribution utilities and developers can be revised, subject to the commission’s approval. The ruling was made in response to a petition filed by Southern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited (APSPDCL) pertaining to 41 PPAs signed between the discom and various wind power developers in 2016-17. The commission has ruled that any modification of the agreements should be done only with its prior approval. In addition, APERC has directed both APSPDCL and Eastern Power Distribution Company of Andhra Pradesh Limited not to sign any fresh PPAs with developers without its approval.
