MePGCL commissions 40 MW Umtru HEP

Meghalaya Power Generation Corporation Limited has commissioned the 40 MW Umtru hydroelectric project in Ri-Bhoi district, Meghalaya. With the commissioning of the project, the power-deficit situation in the state is expected to improve. At present, the state generates only 186.7 MW, exclusively based on hydropower, against the peak demand of 650 MW.
