AES and Mitsubishi Corporation start construction on first grid-scale energy storage system for TPDDL

AES (India) Private Limited, a subsidiary of AES Corporation, along with Mitsubishi Corporation, has started construction on India’s first utility-scale energy storage system that will serve the electric grid operated by Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (TPDDL). The 10 MW Advancion storage solution will be owned by AES and Mitsubishi Corporation, and is being supplied by Fluence, an energy storage technology and services company owned by Siemens. The solution is being deployed at a substation operated by TPDDL in Rohini, Delhi. Expected to be completed by the year end, the solution will enable better peak load management, add system flexibility and enhance reliability for more than 7 million customers in the Delhi region.
