Completion of two nuclear reactors in South Korea delayed by eight months

South Korea-based energy group Korea Hydro and Nuclear Power (KHNP) has delayed the completion of the Shin Hanul 1 and Shin Hanul 2 nuclear reactors in Uljin. The construction has been pushed by another eight months because of the new safety requirements and owing to the delayed test operations of unit IV of Shin Kori. South Korea has made the safety guidelines for new projects more stringent in view of the two major earthquakes that occurred in the nearby cities in 2017. The construction of the two nuclear reactors began in 2010 and they were initially scheduled for commissioning in February 2018 and February 2019 respectively.
