CEB awards LKR6 billion transmission line contract to Chinese company

Sri Lanka’s state-owned Ceylon Electricity Board has awarded a contract worth LKR 5.8 billion to the China National Cable Engineering Corporation for the construction of the 220 kV Polpitiya–Hambantota transmission line. The line is a part of the ADB-funded Green Power Development and Energy Efficiency Improvement Investment Program-Tranche 2. The project will improve the quality and reliability of power supply in the Southern Province, ensure economical operation of the transmission network, and facilitate future interconnections.
