Chinese government approves development of ±800 kV HVDC line

The Chinese government has approved the development of a ±800 kV HVDC superhighway transmission line in the Qinghai plateau. The 1,600 km long line will extend across five provinces from the plateau in the northwest to the densely populated Henan in central China. State-owned State Grid Corporation of China will implement the project. The line is expected to evacuate clean solar power from Qinghai to Henan.
