Thailand’s Electricity Generation Public Company Limited (EGCO Group) is planning to invest $382 million in three overseas power plants with an aggregate capacity of 55 MW. These plants include two hydropower projects in Laos and one coal-based power project in the Philippines. These are expected to start commercial operations by 2022. EGCO is also looking to acquire assets that have begun commercial operations, as well as greenfield projects in Thailand and overseas. With these, the company aims to increase the share of its renewable energy capacity to 30 per cent by 2026.
