Diu becomes the country’s first UT to run 100 per cent on solar energy

Diu has become the first union territory in India to have surplus energy and run 100 per cent on solar energy. The union territory generates 13 MW of electricity from solar power plants, of which 3 MW is generated by rooftop solar plants and 10 MW by other solar power plants. Diu generates about 10.5 MW of electricity on a daily basis and has an average peak hour demand of 7 MW
