MoP proposes setting up of SPV to operate stressed assets

The MoP has proposed the setting up of a special purpose vehicle (SPV) as a collaboration between the Power Finance Corporation (PFC), Rural Electrification Corporation (REC) and NTPC Limited, to operate stressed power plants in the country. As per the proposal, these plants would be run by the SPV for a specific period, within which their value could improve owing to the expected increase in demand. The implementation of the proposal is, however, subject to the approval of the Ministry of Finance.
