ZESCO awards design contracts under Zambia–Tanzania interconnection project

Zambia’s state-owned Zambia Electricity Supply Corporation (ZESCO) has awarded State Nuclear Electric Power Planning Design and Research Institute Company Limited and Chinese TBEA Shenyang Electric Power Design Institute Company Limited a contract for designing a 385 km long transmission project in the country. The line is a part of the larger Zambia–Tanzania interconnection project. The transmission project is valued at $160 million, which entails the construction of the Nakonde and Mporokoso substations and expansion of the Kasama substation.
