Pakistan signs contract agreements with China’s CET for Matiari–Lahore line

The Pakistan government has signed an implementation, transmission service, land lease, and operations and maintenance (O&M) agreement with China Electric Power Equipment and Technology Company Limited, a subsidiary of the State Grid Corporation of China, for the construction of a 878 km, 600 kV high voltage direct current (HVDC) bipole transmission line from Matiari to Lahore. The agreement involves the construction of two convertor stations with AC switching stations at Matiari and Lahore, two electrode stations at Matiari and Lahore each; and three repeater stations along the route of the line. The project is slated for completion by March 2021.
