The Bihar government plans to commence cable replacement work across 38 districts, replacing the old ones with new aerial bunched cables. The government has sanctioned Rs 28.27 billion for the project, of which Rs 15.2 billion will be used for replacing 39,541 km of power cables in north Bihar, while Rs 13.06 billion will be utilised for changing 32,131 km of cables in south Bihar. Tenders have already been awarded to various agencies covering different zones and districts. The replacement work is likely to start by May 2018 and is slated for completion in 2019.
