The Indian electrical equipment industry recorded its highest growth of 12.8 per cent in 2017-18 after a lull of seven years. The data has been compiled by the Indian Electrical and Electronics Manufacturers’ Association and the production and sales data is collected from its member organisations, which represent 90 per cent of the sector. The growth in 2017-18 has been propelled by segments such as rotating machines, which grew by 12 per cent, high tension motors (18 per cent), cables (20 per cent) and meters (28 per cent).
