MNRE extends timeline for completion of solar parks

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has extended the timeline for completion of 40,000 MW of solar parks and ultra mega solar projects from 2019-20 to 2021-22. The move will provide sufficient time to project developers and agencies for tendering the projects, acquiring land, securing power evacuation arrangements for the plants, and implementing the projects. The government had approved the implementation of the programme in March 2017 to enhance solar park capacity from 20,000 MW to 40,000 MW.

The MNRE has issued guidelines for conducting tests on solar photovoltaic modules. These tests will be conducted by labs for compulsory registration with the Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS) for the implementation of the Solar Photovoltaics Systems, Devices and Component Goods Order, 2017.
