Bharat Energy Storage Technology Private Limited has proposed to set up a thermal battery storage facility in Andhra Pradesh at an investment of over Rs 6.6 billion. The plant is expected to commence operations in May 2019. Initially, the plant will have a capacity of 1,000 MW, which will be scaled up to 10 GW by 2025. The company’s first thermal battery, reported to be the first of its kind in the world, was launched in Andhra Pradesh on August 6, 2018.
