Japanese nuclear power majors to form an alliance

Japan-based Tokyo Electric Power Company Holdings, Hitachi Limited, Toshiba Corporation and Chubu Electric Power Company have signed an initial agreement for negotiations regarding a potential partnership in atomic energy. Under the proposed alliance, the four companies will jointly decommission the obsolete reactors and combine all their nuclear operations under a combined company. The alliance, if successful, will facilitate consolidation of Japan’s nuclear industry.
