The MoF has suspended the imposition of safeguard duty on solar panels and modules imported from China and Malaysia till the writ petition challenging the imposition of the duty is disposed of by the Orissa High Court. In July 2018, the MoF notified the imposition of 25 per cent safeguard duty on solar panels and modules imported from China and Malaysia for a year from July 30, 2018 to July 29, 2019, followed by 20 per cent for the next six months till January 30, 2020 and 15 per cent for another six months (until July 29, 2020).
