Unit 2 of 880 MW Jawa-2 power plant in Indonesia begins operations

The state-owned power utility of Indonesia, PT PLN has commenced operation of Unit 2 of the 880 MW natural gas-fired power station at Java Island in Indonesia. The unit was commissioned by Mitsubishi Hitachi Power System (MHPS) ahead of schedule. MHPS provided gas turbines, two exhaust heat recovery boilers, one steam turbine and auxiliary equipment for the project. Meanwhile, the Mitsubishi Electric Corporation supplied generators. Currently, the unit has started operations as a simple gas turbine system with a current output of nearly 300 MW. The unit is slated to begin operations as a gas turbine combined cycle system in 2019.
