Kenya’s KENGEN awards EPC contracts to Marubeni for70 MW geothermal plant

Kenya Electricity Generating Company (KENGEN) has awarded an engineering, procurement and construction contract to Japanese conglomerate Marubeni Corporation for the construction of a 70 MW geothermal power plant in Nakuru County, Republic of Kenya. The project, Unit 6 of the Olkaria1 Geothermal Power Station, is expected to be completed by 2021. The main components of the project such as steam turbines and generators will be provided to Marubeni by Japan-based Fuji Electric Company Limited. The funding for the project will be provided by the Japan International Cooperation Agency and the European Investment Bank.
