The Ministry of Electricity and Energy (MoEE) in Myanmar has issued a notice to proceed (NTP) to a consortium of Austria-based Andritz, Japan-based Kansai and Myanmar-based Shwe Taung Group for the development of the 56 MW Deedoke hydropower project in the Mandalay region. The construction of the project is expected to start in 2019 and be completed by 2022. The power from the project will be sold to Myanmar’s Electric Power Generation Enterprise. Further, the ministry plans to sign a notice to proceed to a consortium led by the French utility Électricité de France for the development of the 1,050 MW Shweli-3 hydropower project in Shan State.
