PSPCL appoints Dilip Buildcon-VPR consortium as operator for Pachwara captive mine

Punjab State Power Corporation Limited (PSPCL) has appointed a mine operator for its Pachwara captive coal block in Jharkhand. The state utility which has given the contract to the Dilip Buildcon-VPR consortium expects to receive coal supply from the block by February 2019, which will lower its fuel cost by an estimated Rs 7.5 billion annually. PSPCL will get coal from Pachwara at about Rs 1,500 per tonne, including taxes, significantly cheaper than the current procurement of coal at around Rs 2,400 per tonne from CIL. PSPCL was reallotted the Pachwara coal block in April 2015 but it could not commence production owing to delays in the finalisation of the mine operator.
