Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has issued revised feed-in tariffs (FiTs) for domestic wind power projects. Accordingly, the 20-year FiT for onshore wind power projects has been fixed at 8.5 US cents per kWh while the FiT for offshore wind projects now stands at 9.8 US cents per kWh. The FiTs will be applicable to projects that are scheduled to start commercial operations by November 2021. The government plans to shift to an auction mechanism for wind power development beyond 2021. The Vietnamese government is expecting to add 6,000 MW of wind power capacity and 12,000 MW of solar capacity by 2030.
