The national plant load factor (PLF) registered a marginal improvement from 59.78 per cent in 2016-17 to 60.67 per cent in 2017-18. Across the central, state and private sectors, PLFs have been showing a decline since 2011-12.
The total installed power generation capacity stood at 344,002 MW as of March 2018. Thermal capacity had a share of 65 per cent followed by renewables, hydel and nuclear. In terms of sectors, the private sector dominated with a 45 per cent share.
