Lower Demwe HEP approved National Board of Wildlife

The National Board for Wildlife’s standing committee has approved the 1,750 MW Lower Demwe hydroelectric project in Arunachal Pradesh. The project, which had been stalled for long, will be jointly executed by Athena Energy Ventures and the state government. The clearance has been granted subject to certain conditions such as the project should be operated at natural levels of inflow and outflow of water to generate power and construction activity should commence only after an undertaking signed by Athena Energy Ventures to abide by the study of the Wildlife Institute of India.
