Nigeria’sTCN announces investment in new substation projects

The Transmission Company of Nigeria (TCN) will invest about $170 million in the construction of five new transmission substations in the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja. In addition, the utility will construct a new transmission route from Lafia in Nasarawa State to Abuja. These substations, which will be financed by AFD, fall under the first phase of TCN’s Transmission Rehabilitation and Expansion Plan (TREP). TREP is an important component of the government’s Power Sector Recovery Programme 2017-21, which aims to increase power supply and provide more reliable service. The substations will be constructed in Lokogoma, Gwarinpa, Kuje, Apo and Lugbe districts of Abuja.
