Private transmission developers have approached the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) seeking reconstitution of the National Committee on Transmission (NCT). The developers allege that the presence of a Powergrid representative on the NCT gives an unfair advantage to the utility in securing tariff-based competitive bidding projects. Private companies raised their concerns after the 37th meeting of the Empowered Committee on Transmission approved the allocation of five transmission schemes to Powergrid under the regulated tariff mechanism.
