Member of the Executive Board, Global Technology, KACO new energy GmbH

Matthias Haag is a member of the executive board of KACO new energy GmbH and is responsible for global development and quality management for all KACO entities. He has been with the company for over 25 years and handled many key operations and new product launches.

Haag joined the erstwhile KACO Electrotechnik as a development engineer after graduating in electrical engineering with a specialisation in automation technology and power electronics from Berufsakademie Mosbach, Germany. In the mid-1990s, he was responsible for developing the first transformerless PV inverter at the organisation – one of his most memorable assignments.

Since the beginning of KACO’s shift towards cleaner sources of energy in 1999, in tandem with the evolving electricity sector, he has occupied a leading position at the company spin-off, KACO new energy GmbH. With over two decades of experience in the solar PV industry, Haag is considered a pioneer in the segment. He is a recognised expert on various standardisation committees for network coupling and has been involved in the preparation of the rules, VDE-AR-N 4105 “Generation plants on the low-voltage grid”.

Haag believes that given its history and geographic location, the Indian solar segment is predestined for solar PV and is one of the top markets worldwide. “For KACO, India is one of the most important markets in the world, apart from our home market of Europe and the US,” he says. Above all, KACO sees itself as a system partner for the company’s Indian clients with a focus on commercial and industrial and utility-scale solar segment. His roadmap for KACO is to help it evolve with new innovations to become a top global PV inverter manufacturer.

Haag has been instrumental in supporting KACO in its journey from a small German company to one of the world’s leading PV inverter manufacturers that has set new standards in inverter technology through innovation. His own thoughts resonate with KACO’s mission to make the world a better place, through the use of products with the highest efficiency to provide clean and renewable energy to all mankind.

Haag’s management style is driven by a passion that inspires his team to take on common tasks and challenges. He strongly believes in maintaining a healthy work-life balance. After a long working day, he likes to unwind by indulging in his favourite outdoor activities that include playing football, cycling and running.
