Himachal Pradesh State Electricity Board Limited (HPSEBL) has decided to install electric cables beneath the Rohtang Tunnel to check power outages in Lahaul-Spiti during the winter months. The existing 33 kV transmission lines are damaged frequently because of heavy snowfall. HPSEBL has submitted the proposal to the Border Roads Organisation to provide land for laying cables under the duct of the tunnel.
