7,800 MW of CPPs facing coal shortage

Captive power plants (CPPs) aggregating 7,800 MW in Odisha are reportedly facing an acute shortage of coal. The CPPs require a total of 40 million tonnes (mt) of coal, but only about 15 mt is supplied by Mahanadi Coalfields Limited. The impacted players include Vedanta Limited, Jindal Stainless Limited, Hindalco Industries Limited, JK Paper Limited, and Facor Power Limited.
