The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has signed a $265 million loan agreement with Jordan’s National Electricity Company (NEPCO) for improving the integration of renewable energy into the national grid. The funds will be utilised for refinancing NEPCO’s short-term debt and improving the Jordanian grid network. The grid improvements will include the construction of new substations, automated grid management systems and transmission infrastructure for enabling better integration of renewable energy with the grid.
