GBP signs ancillary services agreement with NGCP in Philippines

The Philippines-based independent power producer (IPP), Global Business Power Corporation (GBP), has entered into an ancillary services procurement agreement (ASPA) with private grid concessionaire National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) to support the reliability and security of the country’s power grid. Ancillary services include dispatchable reserves, which refer to the generating capacity readily available for despatch in order to meet the contingency reserve requirements when a generating unit trips or a transmission interconnection problem occurs. The NGCP has been asking power producers to offer their available capacity as ancillary services through ASPA in order to maintain the stability of the grid. All offers for ancillary services are subject to the approval of the Energy Regulatory Commission. GBP operates 11 power generation facilities in Cebu, Iloilo, Aklan and Mindoro.
