NTPC secures 85 MW solar capacity in Uttar Pradesh

NTPC Limited has won 85 MW of solar capacity in a reverse auction held by the Uttar Pradesh government at a levellised tariff of Rs 3.02 per unit for a period of 25 years. The tender was floated by UPNEDA for a capacity of 550 MW and NTPC won the entire capacity bid by it. In a separate development, NTPC is planning to commission the 800 MW unit of its 1,600 MW coal-based supercritical power plant at Darlipalli in Sundergarh, Odisha, in 2018-19. By September 2019, the entire plant is projected to start operations. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 125 billion. Odisha will get 50 per cent of the total power produced. On November 30, 2018, the NTPC Group crossed the 5 trillion unit generation mark.
