Tanzania to build a $3 billion hydro power plant

The Tanzanian government has signed a $3 billion agreement with two Egyptian companies to construct a hydropower plant in a game reserve. The companies involved are Arab Contractors, a construction and contracting company, and El-Sewedy Electric, an engineering services company. The plant will be constructed along the Rufiji River in the Selous Game Reserve and is expected to have a capacity of 2,115 MW. The project is expected to produce about 5,920 GWh of power annually.
