The Uttar Pradesh cabinet has approved the selection of Adani Transmission Limited and Power Grid Corporation of India Limited (Powergrid) for setting up transmission networks for the evacuation of power from two TPPs, Obra-C and Jawaharpur, with a capacity of 1,320 MW each. The two companies have been selected through the tariff-based competitive bidding process. The companies have received letters of intent (LoIs) for the projects, which will be developed on a build-own-operate-maintain basis. Adani Transmission will be building transmission infrastructure for the Obra-C TPP at an investment of Rs 8.71 billion while Powergrid will be developing the transmission network for the Jawaharpur TPP at an investment of Rs 5.3 billion. The first units of the generation projects being built by Uttar Pradesh Rajya Vidyut Utpadan Nigam Limited are likely to be commissioned in April 2021 and the second units will be ready for generation in August 2021.
