MERC allows BEST to extend existing PPAs with Tata Power

The Maharashtra Electricity Regulatory Commission (MERC) has allowed the Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport Undertaking (BEST) to extend its existing PPA with Tata Power Company Limited. The PPA pertains to the supply of 677 MW of power by Tata Power from its Trombay power station for five years from April 1, 2019 to March 31, 2024. This will enable BEST to purchase power at the rate of Rs 4.63 per unit. MERC has also allowed BEST to procure 100 MW from Manikaran Power Limited at a rate of Rs 3.94 per unit for five years.
