Powergrid and JKPDD test charge critical 220 kV line

Powergrid and the Jammu & Kashmir Power Development Department (JKPDD) have test-charged the 220 kV Alusteng-Dras-Kargil-Khalsti-Leh transmission line along with 220/66 kV substations at Dras, Kargil, Khalsti and Leh. With this, Ladakh has been connected to the national grid. The transmission system will provide power to Ladakh in winters and evacuate surplus power in summers. In the long term, the transmission line would  allow the evacuation of power from the proposed solar projects in the Ladakh-Kargil region.
