State governments sign agreement for Renukaji Dam Multi-Purpose Project

The governments of Haryana, Himachal Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh have signed an agreement for the construction of the Renukaji Dam Multi-Purpose Project on the Yamuna river and its tributaries. The project is expected to generate 40 MW of power during peak flow and is likely to be executed by Himachal Pradesh Power Corporation Limited. The total cost of the project is estimated at Rs 46 billion, of which the cost of the irrigation/drinking water component is Rs 43 billion and that of the power component is Rs 2.8 billion.
