World Bank and Pakistani government sign $100 million financing agreement

The World Bank and the Pakistan government have signed a $100 million financing agreement for the development of the Sindh solar energy project. The project aims to increase solar power generation and access to electricity in Sindh province. The regional administration of Sindh will contribute another $5 million. Of the total budget, $40 million will be devoted to building large-scale photovoltaic capacity, about $25 million for distributed generation while off-grid capacity and capacity building, and technical assistance are expected to account for $30 million and $5 million respectively.
