Scatec Solar commissions 65 MW solar project in Malaysia

European energy solutions provider Scatec Solar has begun commercial operations of its first solar photovoltaic plant in Malaysia – the 65 MW Gurun project. The plant is located in the northwest of peninsular Malaysia. It is expected to provide about 94,000 MWh of electricity per year. Scatec Solar made its way into the Malaysian solar energy market in December 2016 by collaborating with the local ITRAMAS-led consortium that had signed three 21-year PPAs with TNB. The partnership involves a total investment of nearly RM 1,235 million for developing three solar plants totalling 197 MW (including the Gurun plant).
