TNB subsdiary synchronises 1,000 MW power plant

Jimah East Power Sendirian Berhad has synchronised the 1,000 MW Unit 1 of the 2,000-MW coal-fired power plant in Port Dickson, Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia. Jimah East Power is a 70 per cent subsidiary of TNB. The project will supply electricity to the Malaysian grid. This is TNB’s third ultra supercritical (USC) coal-fired power plant. The project is expected to increase TNB’s generation capacity to over 14,000 MW. The plant has two units of 1,000 MW and costs RM 12 billion. Unit 1 is likely to commence commercial operations in June 2019, while Unit 2 will start in December 2019.
