Vietnam government scraps 15 hydropower projects

Vietnam’s Ministry of Industry and Trade has scrapped 15 hydropower plants totalling 46.15 MW in capacity in the central province of Nghe An. The plants, mostly located in remote areas, were of capacities lower than 9 MW. So far, about 47 hydropower plants with a combined capacity of 1,407 MW have been approved in Nghe An. Of these, eight projects were approved by the government, 24 projects by the ministry, and the remaining 15 by the local authority.
