The CERC has notified the Sharing of Interstate Transmission Charges and Losses (Sixth Amendment), Regulations, 2019. As per the amendment, transmission charges and losses for the use of interstate transmission system (ISTS) networks will not be payable for generation based on solar and wind power resources for a period of 25 years from the commercial operation date (COD). The benefit is contingent upon conditions such that solar and wind projects should have been awarded through the competitive bidding process as per the guidelines issued by the central government. The COD for such projects should be between February 13, 2018 and March 31, 2022. Further, PPAs should be signed with discoms for the compliance of renewable purchase obligations. The modification will come into effect retrospectively from February 13, 2018.
