MNRE issues advisory against certain Chinese module suppliers

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued an advisory to the stakeholders against procuring solar photovoltaic (PV) modules from Chinese solar equipment suppliers China Sunergy (CSUN) and CEEG (Shanghai) Solar Science Technology Company Limited. The two companies have failed to meet their contractual obligations with the local project developers. This development comes after Acme Solar filed a petition at the International Arbitration Centre, Singapore, citing that CSUN had failed to supply solar modules. Similar issues were raised by RattanIndia and Refex Energy too. The MNRE is also in the process of preparing an approved list of solar equipment manufacturers globally.
