Tata Power plans restructuring exercise

Tata Power is planning to restructure some of its subsidiaries to enhance profitability and create a streamlined operational structure. It plans to reduce the number of subsidiaries from 95 to 20. It will initially focus on breaking down the wholly owned subsidiaries to be a part of the main operational businesses and will gradually move to joint ventures (JV). At present, Tata Power has around 50 subsidiaries (40 are wholly owned), 37 JVs and eight associates.
