The Gujarat Electricity Regulatory Commission (GERC) has issued retail supply tariff orders for 2019-20. As per the tariff orders, there will be no increase in the power tariff for consumers of the four state-owned discoms and Torrent Power Limited during the year. Also, the number of slabs in residential tariffs has been reduced from five to four. The energy charges for agricultural consumers using electricity for lift irrigation purposes have been reduced by 30 paise per unit. Further, the benefit of optional demand-based tariff has been extended to small consumers who have a contract demand of up to 6 kW.
