Japan-based Osaka Gas Company shelves plan to build 1.2 GW coal-fired power plant

Japan-based Osaka Gas Company Limited has shelved its plan to build a 1.2 GW coal-fired power plant in Yamaguchi, western Japan. The company has cited changes in the electricity market and future business risks as its reason for pulling out of the project. The coal-fired power station was aimed at starting operations by 2026, with partners Electric Power Development (J-Power) and Ube Industries Limited.
