MNRE issues guidelines on the import of secondary cells, and lead-acid and nickel-based batteries

The Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) has issued guidelines on the import of secondary cells, and lead-acid and nickel-based batteries that are used in solar projects. This notification follows its earlier regulation, the Solar Photovoltaics Systems, Devices and Components Goods (Requirements for Compulsory Registration) Order, 2017. These guidelines have clarified that lead-acid or nickel-based secondary cells and batteries that are used in solar projects will be covered under the Indian Standard 16270.
